Original concept sketch was created in the 1970s from Simon Atkinson a well know designer illustrator from the UK one of the actual designers of the hand drawn designs of the space ship the "Discovery " from the movie and novel "2001 Space Odyssey" and "Blake 7". Simon gave me special permission to recreate his concept model called "Freedom" from paper to CGI with my own flair , i believe the concept was for a proposed
TV pilot in the 70s that never aired . Zoom on in for the detail.
Thanks for stopping by . Michael

Below is a link of a rear view clay render of the model , i wish i could have incorporated it into a scene !

VERY COOL! you could write stories about a ship like that!

I would call the ship FREERUNNER!
and it would be a fast cargo runner that is always running into
problems from the cargo or the passengers it is carrying!

what do u say i try and write a store store and use your pic as the cover!

drop me a line if you think thats cool

I really like this ship design. Looks like a workable prototype. Great job.

I absolutely love this design! I am curious though as to what that is on the bottom of the ship. It looks like it could be a weapon, but I'm guessing it has something to do with the engines?

this is seriously outstanding... sort of ship that, given a good crew, deserves its own series

O-Kay. nice line and shading, like the details (even the background shadows) and the photo style-but It looks like a Gas guzzler.

This is wicked. I love it when scifi models are placed into real scenes. If the shadows of the CGI model were a little darker due to the bright daylight if would be icing on the cake. Good work.

I realize this word is very overused but this is simply epic.

The first thing I noticed about this was how 70s it looked. It has something of a Star Wars aesthetic about it, like a Star Destroyer's little cousin. :p

Either way, it's great work, both in terms of design and your modelmaking abilities! :meow:

Thanks man , actually the "Freedom" concept illustration was initially first created in the early seventies before Star Wars it was for a failed TV pilot series , by Simon Atkinson he was the creator of the hand dawn illustrations for the plans of the space ship Odyssey in the movie 2001 Space Odyssey.I brought his "Freedom" vision into the 3D realm. He is quite happy with the outcome .
